Description
Summary:The dataset includes near-seafloor magnetic data from the Mohns Ridge (Arctic Mid-Ocean Ridge segment) used in the paper: "Hydrothermal activity at the ultraslow-spreading Mohns Ridge: new insights from near-seafloor magnetics" [https://doi. org/10.1029/2019GC008439]. The data were collected with the use of an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) during NTNU/MarMine research cruise to the Arctic Mid-Ocean Ridge in 2016. The dataset covers parts of two axial volcanic ridges (AVRs) and a segment of mid-ocean ridge valley rift flank. The study area hosts one active hydrothermal field, Loki's Castle and three extinct hydrothermal sites, Mohn's Treasure - MT-1, MT-2 and MT-3. MT-2 and MT-3 were discovered by analysing magnetic data in combination with bathymetric data from the area. Near-seafloor high-resolution magnetic data provide insights into the siting and geological context of the vent sites, and aid in the interpretation of magmatic and tectonic processes interplay along the mid-ocean ridges. ...
