Description
Summary:To document the properties of the snowpack six snowpits are made in Kobbefjord each year in late winter (app. April). The logging includes density measurements taken with a rip cutter and snow temperature measurements every 10 cm. Description of snow grain size, grain shape and hardness throughout the profile are found in the stratigraphy files. The snow survey in Kobbefjord has been carried out annually in late winter since 2008. Please contact the ClimateBasis Nuuk manager for detailed snow survey reports. The collected data build base-line information on climate variability and trends for all the other sub-programmes within GEM and serve as a trustworthy foundation for adaptation strategies for the Greenlandic society. The stations are embedded in Asiaq’s extensive climate and hydrology monitoring network. ...
