Summary:No abstracts are to be cited without prior reference to the author.The age-0 stage of walleye pollock, Theragra chalcogramma (Pallas), in the southeast Bering Sea is an important component of the pelagic food web. Juvenile pollock reside in high numbers around the Pribilof Islands, where they can find higher prey abundance compared to other Bering Sea shelf areas. Each summer tidal mixing forms a structural thermal front around the islands. The front separates a well-mixed inshore region, from a thermally-stratified offshore region. The length of the frontal region changes annually and ranges from about five to more than 20 km, depending mainly on the strength of water column stratification. ...
