| Summary: | Time series from several hydrographic sections in the Norwegian and Barents Seas are analysed in relation to cyclic variations and the results compared with meteorological observations. The length of the time series varies from 36 to m ore than 100 years. The results indicate that the time series consist of several components, with periods varying from 2.6 to 17.5 years. T he 1980s were characterized by two large inflows of Atlantic water to the area, the first taking place in 1982/1983, the second in 1989/1990. Modelling results indicate that the variability in the Atlantic inflow is closely related to meteorological conditions.
