Summary:Highlights: • The detailed planning of the international trawl/acoustic survey on pelagic redfish in the Irminger Sea and adjacent waters in June/July 2007 has been agreed by all participating countries (Germany, Iceland and Russia). • Hydroacoustic measurements as well as pelagic trawls will be used for abundance and biomass estimation of redfish (see Section 2.3-2.5). • The survey area covers around 400 000 square nautical miles, with a total acoustic track distance of 9100 nautical miles (Section 2.1), several trawl hauls (Section 2.5), biological sampling (Section 2.6) and hydrographic measurements (Section 2.7). • 2007 offers the unique opportunity for participation of the employed vessels in a concurrently conducted whale survey in the North Atlantic.
