| Summary: | A total of 17 profiling floats were deployed in the Sea of Okhotsk between 2002 and 2014 as part of a joint study of the Sea of Okhotsk by Hokkaido University (Japan) and University of Washington (USA). The first 8 profiling floats (0012, 0869, 0870, 0871, 0968, 0969, 0970, 0971) were deployed between 2002 and 2004, acquiring temperature (T) and salinity (S) profiles until 2005 at the latest. The last 9 profiling floats (5259, 5260, 5365, 5367, 6404,9001, 9021, 9049, 9050) were deployed between 2007 and 2014, acquiring T, S, and dissolved oxygen (DO) data until 2020 at the latest. The profiling floats were equipped- with a sea ice detection mechanism and thus acquired under-ice profiles during winter. Several of the profiling floats exited the Sea of Okhotsk via the Bussol Strait and continued acquiring data in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. ... |
