Description
Summary:Radiocarbon dating of the Late Pleistocene thick syngenetic ice-wedges polygonal massives of Russian permafrost zone is represented. Dating of Late Pleistocene syngenetic ice wedges is possible with using of radiocarbon dates of the host sediments indirectly. Formation of syngenetic ice wedges is a cyclically-interrupted process. Fluvial origin of syngenetic sediments formed of ice wedge thickness determines presence of allochthonous and autochthonous organic material there. This is the main cause of age inversions or disturbances in the radiocarbon date series from syngenetic permafrost cross-sections. : The ¹⁴C measurements were made in the Geological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (L. Sulerzhitsky).
