Summary:1. This dataset contains shapefile coastal ice masks of the Marie Byrd Land Sector of West Antarctica for years 2003, 2008, 2010 and 2015, as derived by Christie et al. (2018).2. Masks were produced using the grounding line and ice frontal position data contained in this collection (see Dataset 1 - Grounding line and ice frontal positions for the Marie Byrd Land Sector of West Antarctica, 2003-2015, with links to shapefiles https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.884780), as derived from Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper, Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager and Terra-ASTER Level 1 Terrain Corrected optical satellite imagery. Along poorly surveyed parts of the coastline (e.g. in areas of fast ice flow or excessive cloud coverage), Ib picks from Bindschadler et al. (2011, doi:10.5194/tcd-5-183-2011) and Haran et al. (2014, doi:10.1029/2011GL047109) were used to fill the gaps in our Landsat-derived data coverage.
