Landsat mosaics 2001/2002 and 2009, Central Yakutia, with links to GeoTIFFs

Description
Summary:Two mosaics from Landsat scenes were constructed for the study area for the years 2001/2002 and 2009. Mosaicking process was done in ERDAS IMAGINE 9.1. We used the "Mosaic Images" processing chain of the "data preparation" menu. After adding all images into the "Mosaic Tool Viewer", the image quality within the overlap areas were evaluated. Cutlines between neighboring images were drawn manually, in order to create a cloud free coverage for the entire area. Output map area was set to "Union of all inputs", output cell size to 30 (2001/2002 mosaic) and 32 m (2009 mosaic). No color corrections along the border of cutlines or across the images have been applied. All Landsat scenes were utilized in Standard Terrain Correction Level (L1T). Further absolute and relative georeferencing of the imagery was not necessary due to the high accuracy of fit (<= 1 pixel) within both mosaics and between them. The mosaic from 2001/2002 consists of 31 Landsat ETM+ scenes acquired during two consecutive years 2001 and 2002. Used Landsat paths were 121-130, used Landsat rows 15-18. Please see "Further details" link for a list of the individual image scenes used in the mosaic. The 2009 mosaic covers parts of Central Yakutia and consists of 25 Landsat TM5 scenes. Used Landsat pathes 121-129, used Landsat rows 15-17. Please see "Further details" link for a list of the individual image scenes used in the mosaic.Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 7 ETM+ SLC-on data courtesy of the U.S. Geological Survey.
