Summary: | This R/V Oceanus cruise conducted a high-resolution seismic survey of Neogene-Recent sequence stratigraphy off the New Jersey coast. This study was in support of STRATAFORM and the Ocean Drilling Program's Mid-Atlantic Transit project. The objectives were to collect high-resolution reflection images of the upper 100+ m of strata geometry from the outer shelf to the slope, tied to Leg 150 sites, and to survey for the presence of shallow gas in grids centered on proposed ODP drill sites, following guidelines set by the Shallow Water Drilling Hazards Working Group. Funded by the Office of Naval Research (U.S.). |
