Summary: | Long-term observations of hourly temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen along the SAMBA transect ... : Here we present processed hourly temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen data from a SeaBird SBE37 microcat located at a depth of 1068m at M9 (34.5032°S; 17.1243°E) along the South Atlantic MOC Basin-scale Array (SAMBA) transect in the Cape Basin region of the South Atlantic Ocean, between 06 October 2020 and 30 September 2022. The South African component of the international South Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation project (SAMOC-SA) aims to characterise the time-mean and time-varying components of the SAMOC in the South Atlantic Ocean and monitor the variability of the main Southern Ocean frontal systems associated with the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC), south of Africa. This dataset was collected in collaboration with the international iAtlantic (Integrated Assessment of Atlantic Marine Ecosystems in Space and Time) project, who provided funding for the instrument. ... |
