Summary: | The South African component of the international South Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation project (SAMOC-SA) aims to characterise the time-mean and time-varying components of the SAMOC in the South Atlantic Ocean and monitor the variability of the main Southern Ocean frontal systems associated with the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC), south of Africa. Here we present raw data from an ADCP, deployed at a depth of 262m, at location M2 (46.7117°S; 37.902°E) on the Prince Edward Island shelf, between 27 April 2017 and 21 April 2018. ... : The raw data was collected using a bottom-mounted, upward-looking, Teledyne 150 kHz RD Instruments Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) that was configured with a bin size of 8 m and a blanking distance of 3.52 m. The ADCP was deployed at location M2 (46.7117°S; 37.902°E),in a depth of 262m, on the shelf between Marion Island and Prince Edward Island. The instrument measured hourly magnitude and direction throughout the water column between 27 April 2017 and 21 April 2018. ... |
