Description
Summary:The South African component of the international South Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation project (SAMOC-SA) aims to characterise the time-mean and time-varying components of the SAMOC in the South Atlantic Ocean and monitor the variability of the main Southern Ocean frontal systems associated with the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC), south of Africa. Here we present processed hourly bottom temperature from an ADCP at location M1 (46.773°S; 37.913°E) on the Prince Edward Island shelf, between 27 April 2017 and 21 April 2018. ... : A temperature sensor, on a bottom-mounted Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), measured hourly temperature readings between 27 April 2017 18h00 and 21 April 2018 09h00, at a depth of 160m. The data were then formatted in a .txt file with data values separated by commas. ...
