Summary:Dactylorhiza viridis (L.) R.M.Bateman, Pridgeon & M.W.Chase is an inconspicuous, greenish orchid that is widespread and has a circumboreal distribution. It also classified as belonging to a separate genus Coeloglossum as Coeloglossum viride (L.) Hartm. Evidence from analysis of single genes suggested that the genus Coeloglossum should be synonymized with Dactylorhiza, there is still discussion about the taxonomic status. Dactylorhiza viridis can be found throughout Europe, non-tropical Asia, Canada and the United States. It is preferably found in ancient chalk grassland, meadows, montane grasslands and light woods. In Komi Republic it occurs in swamps, forest and on limestone outcrops along river banks. In the mountains, D. viridis was revealed in the mountain meadow communities and mountain tundra. Flowering is in June-July, fruiting in July-August. The data set contains data on the distribution of Dactylorhiza viridis (L.)
