The ornithological collection is made up of 189 surviving records, consisting of mounted specimens and eggs. All specimens were caught in Portugal, except for the two Polysticta stelleri (Pallas, 1769) specimens, offered to D. Carlos I by Edward VII of the United Kingdom.
