| Summary: | The dataset contains records of Iberian Wolf (Canis lupus) collected in the lower valley of River Sabor (NE Portugal), in the scope of the long-term Ecological Monitoring Program (PME) of the Baixo Sabor Hydroelectric Dams (AHBS), promoted by EDP – Energias de Portugal, S.A. This dataset includes results of spotlight counts made in and around the area affected by the dam, from June 2010 to September 2014. Sampling was performed at fixed transects (spotlight counts) distributed along the lower Sabor river valley and some of its small tributaries, and in the rivers Maçãs and Angueira, from the river mouth up to 42 km upstream. The presence and identity of the target species would be assessed by direct observation of individuals during spotlight counts. No detection of Iberian wolf was obtained during these surveys, thus the dataset reports on locations where the species was deemed absent, thereby providing a baseline to assess future changes in species occurrence patterns. ... |
