| Summary: | This report presents the results of the two seasons of archaeological fieldwork (2004 and 2005) carried out as part of the Stó:lō Pithouse Settlement Mapping and Testing Project, one of several major segments of the multi-year, multi-disciplinary ‘Fraser Valley Project’ ( Lepofsky et al 2003). Eight archaeological sites were included in the present study: Eyxel (DiRi-48), ‘John Mack Slough’ (DhRl-T1), Qithyil Island (DhRl-15; also known as the Scowlitz Site), Shxw’ow’hamel (DiRj-30), Sqwa:la (DhRl-6), Sxwóxwiymelh ‘South’ (DiRj-1; formerly known as the ‘Katz’ site), Th’ewá:lí (DgRl-17), and Xelhálh (DjRi-14). The sites included in this study are located within Stó:lō Traditional Territory and are associated with the bands of the Stó:lō Tribal Council and Stó:lō Nation, Skwah First Nation, and Chehalis First Nation.
