Summary: | This is the OBIS extraction of the Ocean Tracking Network and Cape Breton University (CBU) OTN Bras d'Or Lakes Array, consisting of the release tagging metadata, i.e. the location and date when the tagged animal was released, and summarized detection events of tagged individuals. If readers are interested in the source dataset they may also inquire with the project PIs as listed here or on the OTN web site (https://members.oceantrack.org/project?ccode=BDL). ... : Abstract:The Bras d'Or Lakes Array will use OTN theory and technology to determine the ecological connections between Canada's inland sea (the Bras d'Or estuary of Cape Breton), its watershed, the Scotian Shelf, the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the NW Atlantic Ocean. The intent is to fully instrument the sites of exchange between the major river catchements of the watershed and the estuary, the channels linking the major basins of the estuary, and all channels of exchange between the estuary and the surrounding ocean. Motile anadromous, catadromous, and marine species of significance (e.g., Atlantic salmon, American eel, Atlantic cod) will be acoustic tagged in rivers, bays, banks, and basins of the Bras d'Or to track their movements within the estuary and its watershed, and between the estuary and the surrounding OTN arenas of the NW Atlantic Ocean. The Bras d'Or Lakes Array will be located throughout the Bras d'Or estuary, including all channels connecting the estuarine waters to those of the surrounding ... |
