Summary: | This dataset contains climate model output that has been prepared for the internal Bjerknes Centre project VOLCANOES4FUTURE which aimed to assess the impact of potential volcanic activity on future climate projections. The control experiment comprises of 60 simulations that cover the period 1980 to 2099 and follow the CMIP5 historical+rcp4.5 forcing protocol. In particular, no volcanic forcing was applied after year 2005 in this experiment. The simulations were spawned from NorESM’s CMIP5 historical simulations [Bentsen et al. 2012]. Initial spread within the 20-member subsets was generated by adding artificial noise to the ocean mixed layer temperatures. The data contains monthly atmospheric, ocean, land and sea ice output stored in NetCDF format. The data contains basic in-file metadata providing information like variable names and units as well as temporal and spatial information. Additional grid information is stored in a separate grid folder.
