Description
Summary:Three individuals of Northern fur seal (Callorhinus ursinus, NFS) were tagged in October, 2018 with ARGOS satellite tags SPOT-293A (Wildlife Computers, Inc., USA). Fieldwork was conducted at Tyuleny Island in the Sea of Okhotsk (48°30'N, 144°37'E). The NFSs were captured at rookery using a hoop net. The tags were attached to the top of the head of each fur seal using special glue. The sex of captured individuals was determoned by primary sexual characters. Both female NFSs were nursing their pups. The male NFS was occupying a non-breeding area of a colony. All NFSs had shed their summer hair. The tagged NFSs were two adult females (Platform ID №№ 55015 and 55019) and one juvenile male (Platform ID № 55024). The study was performed jointly by POI FEB RAS (state project No. 121021500052-9) and the National Institute of Fishery Sciences, Republic of Korea (grant R2022033). All procedures with animals were permitted by the Federal Agency for Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and approved by the Pacific Fisheries Research Center.
