Description
Vladimir Konstantinovich Zhandr is only one of many Russian engineers who started working up "building of century" construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway for Russia in 1893. Despite his high noble origin, he didn't differ from other engineers and only carried out the official functions on a crossing of freights, construction of transport knot (Ob station) and the objects adjoining to it, but he carried out his duties in a special place. Where railway tracks is crossed with the mighty Ob River there was cropped up the largest trans-Ural megalopolis of Russia Novosibirsk. Despite this, there is no information in a historiography about the founder of this city -V.K. Zhandr. The research group of the museum laboratory "At City Sources" carried out work on search of the archival files connected with the identity of this engineer. This articele was written on the base of these documents and represents a source study analysis. It includes historical sources for studying of unknown pages of the biography of V.K. Zhandr and new facts about his life. While studying this article, it is important to understand that the author writes it within a concept, on preparation of the monograph which describes the entire period of Vladimir Konstantinovich Zhandr's life as elite engineer whose life journey shows many aspects of Russia's life at the beginning of the XX century. Article has to become a good base and show objectivity and features of these office work documents. So, the main goal of this research to find out an origin, to describe and characterize each revealed source separately. During this research the author raises a number of questions, where is a place of burial of Zhandr? What was with Zhandr and his relatives after revolution? Where manors situated that he bought? This searching for answers will not be so easy. At first, there is no necessary information in archives of Russia. Secondly, it is necessary to contact with Zhandr's descendants, which live abroad, for successful realization of a goal. Obviously, the destiny of his children was sated with heartrending experiences that could cause irrevocable loss of the important documents connected with history of generation. Thus, research isn't finished yet and we face with new historical riddles, which decision will represent huge interest for Novosibirsk local history community.
