Description
This article analyzes the establishment and operation in the north-eastern Siberia of the new forms of association of big capital in the person of "The Projected Corporation in the North of Yakut Region". In the first part of the study, particular attention is paid to the organizational factors of corporation creation, the order of stock capital formation in 1916-1919. Data analysis of archive sources revealed that the structure of the new corporation had two trading houses and one corporation. The stock capital of "The Projected Corporation in the North of Yakut Region" in 1916 was a contribution of a match and fur factory "N.P. Rylov and F.P. Lesnikov". In 1918, the stock capital in the amount of 750000 rubles consisted of shares of trading houses "The Heirs of A.I. Gromova" and "The Heirs of Ya.F. Sannikov", as well as of "Rylov and Lesnikov" company. This form of association of big capital was new to fur trade in the north-eastern Siberia in the early 20th century. The main purpose of the corporation in 1916 was monopolization of buying furs in the northern districts of Yakut Region. Under the influence of competition the purpose of the company changed in 1918. It then was to create a profitable and competitive enterprise in the fur trade. The founding documents listed Verkhoyansk and Kolyma districts of Yakut Region as areas of business of the Company. The second part of the study analyzes the Company's turnover in buying large lots of fur in 1916-1919. The study of the dynamics of buying fur by the Company participants showed that the total turnover of the Company consisted of separate turnovers of the trading houses, each of which preserved its economic independence. The formal participation of "The Heirs of A.I. Gromova" and "The Heirs of Ya.F. Sannikov" in the establishment of "The Projected Corporation in the North of Yakut Region" resulted in the unfinished structure of the Company which had all the characteristics of a trading house in the form of a general partnership. The transfer of the balance of a loss-making company of the Gromovs in Kyusyur led to a fund-raise by the main founders of "Rylov and Lesnikov" to create a profitable enterprise. The working capital of the shareholders was separated from buying large lots of furs in 1918-1919. In the conclusion, the main goal of creating "The Projected Corporation in the North of Yakut Region" in the form of monopolizing fur trade was not achieved.
