| Summary: | Studying of size characteristics of muskrat showed that since the last morphometric examinations of this species in the territory of Yakutia significant changes have taken place. Within the 1960s1970s muskrats harvested in the territory of Yakutia were characterized by large sizes, but at present the decrease of body and skull sizes occurred as compared with the period of “a postacclimatization explosion”. Sex dimorphism observed earlier both in the size of skull, and in its proportions revealed itself only in a group of yearlings in a spring period. Rates of growth changed: intensive increase of growth during the first months of life was followed by the delay in growth in winter and even by its full stop. That was later compensated by a longer growth of animals during the second summer of their life, but juvenile features remained. |
