| Summary: | According to calculated data the total musk ox numbers in Taimyr in summer of 2006 made up 5000 individuals, on Wrangel Island – 600, in Yakutia – 400, within the whole Russia– about 6 thousand individuals. To restore the historical area of musk ox in the north of Russia it is necessary to create a minimum of 57 new populations of musk ox. For this purpose during the nearest 510 years it will be necessary to resettle a minimum of 300 musk ox from Taimyr and Wrangel Island. |
