Summary:During the nesting season of 2002-2004 the meadows of the Vaga, Pinega, Yuros, Mezen rivers were explored by means of itinerary registration. Overall, 115 species of birds from 12 orders were taken into account. Of them about 100 species nest, the rest are attributed to migrants, though some of them probably nest in meadow biotopes of the peritundra zone (Mezen). Predominant species in the population are: Actitis hipoleucos, Acrocephalus schoenobaenus, Passer domesticus, Philloscopus trochilus, Riparia riparia, Emberiza schoeniclus, Emberiza pusilla, Motacilla flava.
