Summary:N.V. Tolkacheva"s article is devoted to consideration of Kamchatka"s history and its peoples in treatment of the Russian historiography of the modern period, which begins at the 90-s of XX c. The new period of development of Russian historiography is characterized by breaking from Marxist-Leninist interpretation of history, pluralism of methodological approaches, returning of many historians" names, appearing themes, which were forbidden for researchers to investigate before. The source base of researches is extended with Russian archive funds which were closed or classified as secret. Besides, funds of foreign archives are getting available for investigators from the advent of perestroika. Traditions themes joining and colonization of territories, Russian-aboriginal contacts, history and ethnology of radical peoples, activity of Russian population in peninsula, studying biographies of famous persons of Kamchatka"s history are getting new interpretation. The researches of local historians became more active within the jubilee dates of Kamchatka"s history. N.V.
