| Summary: | 12 páginas, 7 cuadros, 5 figuras [EN] In this paper the age and growth of the Terranova cod are studied by means of their otoliths. The following conclusions are reached: a) The growth of the otolith is directly proportional to the length of the cod which ranges between 30 cm and 65 cm. b) The mean length of the cod (males and females together) in its 2nd year is 22 cm; in its 3rd, 37,3 cm; in its 4th, 46,25 cm; in its 5th, 53,1 cm; in its 6th, 60,6 cm; in its 7th, 67 cm; in its 8th, 78,3 cm; and is calculated at 13,2 cm for its 1st year. c) The lengths given by other authors for the same area agree with those found by the author. d) The most abundant annual class in the fishery is that of 1949 [ES] En el presente trabajo se estudia la edad y crecimiento del bacalao de Terranova por medio de los otolitos, llegándose a las siguients conclusiones: a) Para longitudes del otolito comprendidas entre 11 mm y 18 mm, su crecimiento está prácticamente en relación directa con el del pez, [.] Peer reviewed
