Description
Summary:4 pages, 3 figures, 10 references. En el capítulo: Managing coastal zones and marine resources. 847 pages. Simposio celebrado del 8-12/06/1998, en Tromso, Norway. The sea meadows are very delicate ecosystems, fundamental in the susainability of fisheries, as they act as a natural hatchery and nursery for many species. Tbe present paper describes the methodology to characterize and monitor these communities in a non-destruetive way, using an acoustic remote sensing instrument, the side scan sonar and two different frequencies, 100 and 500 kHz. The autbors would like to thank the facilities received by the other project partners in the acquisítion and interpretation of the sonographs used, which were taken in the sea surveys of the BIOSONAR Project (MAS3-CT95-026).
