Description
Summary:Oceanographic data acquired during the eIMPACT-2 Cruise (29SG20221108) on board the Research Vessel Sarmiento de Gamboa in 2022. The general objective of e-IMPACT is to study the linkage between the dynamics of mesoscale and sub-mesoscale processes occurring along the life history of cyclonic and anticyclonic eddies in the Canary Eddy Corridor (CEC), and their effects on the structure and metabolism of the planktonic community, as well as in their role in the vertical carbon flux to the deep ocean. e-IMPACT will address the coupled dynamics between food-web diversity and function, in relation to the physical and chemical conditions, the origin and composition of DOC and POC and their contribution to remineralization rates in the twilight zone of the ocean.
