Description
Summary:This work provides open access to the data compiled for the following paper "TerrANTALife 1.0 Biodiversity data checklist of known Antarctic terrestrial and freshwater life forms" by Pertierra LR, Varliero G, Barbosa A, Biersma EM, Convey P, Chown SL, Cowan D, De los Rios A, Escribano-Alvarez P, Fraser CI, Fontaneto D, Griffiths HJ, Harris M, Hughes KA, Hortal J, Lynch HJ, Liu XP, le Roux PC, Majewska R, Martinez PA, Molina-Montenegro MA, Olalla-Tárraga MA, Quesada A, Ronquillo, C, Sancho L, Terauds A, Vianna JA & Greve M. deposited in the Biodiversity Data Journal (2023) We compiled, completed and revised eukaryotic species inventories present in terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems in Antarctica. This includes the first account for many groups of eukaryotic microorganisms. We also introduce a first catalogue of amplicon sequence variants (ASVs) of the prokaryote biodiversity. Available listings to data were searched, integrated, taxonomically harmonized and curated by experts to create comprehensive checklists of Antarctic organisms Dr. Luis R. Pertierra was funded by an ASICS South Africa EU-Biodiversa postdoctoral contract. This paper is a contribution to the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) Scientific Research Programme 'Integrated science to inform Antarctic and Southern Ocean Conservation' (Ant-ICON). Research was supported through the EU-Biodiversa ASICS programme, funded by the South African Department of Science and Innovation (project led by Dr. Michelle Greve). Contains: 3 TSV text files and 2 FASTA files with Species Data and ASV Data and Database Legend. Peer reviewed
