Description
Summary:5 pages, 2 tables, 7 figures The importance of the smoller Arctic estuaries to the hydrology and biogeochemistry of the Arctic Seas remains to be fully investigated. The generalised concepts of estuarine biogeochemistry fashioned from extensive studies of temperate zone esturies may be not applicable to Arctic areas, and thus specific studies of these estuaries are required. The Chupa estuary provides a ggod example of such a system INTAS projects "Mesoscale physical and biogeochemical processes in the Russian Arctic", ref. 97-1881 and "Arctic interdisciplinary estuarine studies", ref. 1010-CT93-0019 No
