Summary:It is a pleasure to meet here in Iceland with the international geothermal community. I take special pride in the fact that the Director of this country's United Nations University Geothermal Training Program, Dr. Jon Gudmundsson, was for a time a very active participant in the U.S. Department of Energy geothermal technology research and development program which I represent here today. This participation was during his tenure as a scholar at Stanford University in California. We are grateful for the benefit of his informed counsel and scientific expertise until Iceland reclaimed his services
