Description
Summary:"OSLO, September 1950 -- Seen at work during her vacation tour in western Europe is Jean Colbert, director of Women's Activities for radio station WTIC, Hartford, Conn., interviewing (left) Gerda Ring, actress and producer-director of the famous National Theater in Oslo, capital of Norway. Gerda Ring is a member of Norway's greatest theatrical family, seven members of which are members of the National Theater Company. Among the interesting facts told Miss Colbert by Miss Ring are: there are more people of Norwegian descent in the U.S. than in Norway (a nation of 3,000,000); it is a speedier and easier journey from Oslo to the U.S. than from Oslo to the tip of northern Norway, which extends into the Arctic; with Marshall Plan assistance from the U.S. Norway has made great strides toward economic recovery but, still, and after ten years, there is rationing of clothing and coffee and such things as oranges do not exist for Norwegians."
