Description
Summary:this paper we expect information about the global nitrogen cycle and changes of the main N 2 O sources and sinks. In the modern global N 2 O budget, natural N 2 O sources are nitrification and denitrification in soils (3 -- 10 Tg N yr ) and in the ocean (3 -- 6 Tg N yr ). About two thirds of the soil emissions occur in the tropics, and one third originates from temperate soils. The main sink for N 2 O, on the other hand, is its decomposition in the stratosphere by photodissociation (90%) and reactions with excited oxygen (10%) [IPCC, 2001]
