Summary: | When the Cambridge Center was founded in the early 1980’s we were unique in our effort to bring the benefits of behavior analysis to the culture at large. Over the years, we developed many mecha-nisms for achieving our mission: conferences, publications, book-stores, accreditation packages, continuing education modules and, of course, our website with all its subdivisions. We also developed many imitators, most of whom concentrate on only one or two of our myriad activities. Not surprisingly, some may now be doing their thing a little better than we are. Some are much larger and better fi-nanced. But few have the strength of our commitment to excellence that has characterized the Center since its inception. I was reminded of this strength in late July when my wife Susanne, our elder daughter Marcy, and I spent 10 days in Cheticamp, a little town on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. We were there to visit my mother’s birthplace and learn something of my Acadian heritage. |
