Printed in Great Britain A NEW GENUS AND SPECIES OF CARIDEAN SHRIMP (CRUSTACEA: DECAPODA: ALVINOCARIDIDAE) FROM NORTH ATLANTIC HYDROTHERMAL VENTS

The taxonomic position in the family and distinguishing characters (rostrum, armature of telson, form of first maxilliped) of the new genus are presented, and a possible evolution-ary feeding hierarchy within the family is suggested. A key is given to the genera of the Alvinocarididae.
