The line drawing on the cover, as well as those for Psoroma hypnorum and the 'lung-like ' illustration, are the work of Alexander Mikulin as found in Uchens of Southeastern Alaska by Geiser, Dillman, Derr, and Stensvold. 'Cyphellae' and 'pseudocyphellae ' are also by Alexander Mikulin as appear in MacroUchens of the Pac!ftc Northwest by McCune and Geiser. The Cladonia apothecia drawing is the work of Bruce McCune from Macrolichens of the Northern Rocky MoWltains by McCune and Goward.
