Simulation of the IMPACT Dam-break experiments using different calculation methods

Description
Summary:During the IMPACT workshop held in Mo i Rana different methods for the simulation of embankment failure and dam erosion are compared to each other and verified by two “blind” test cases. In test case 1 a highly cohesive homogenous dam is given. The dam in test case 2 is made of a non cohesive sand. This paper describes the dam-break models DEICH_A, DEICH_P and DEICH_N2 developed at the University of the Federal armed Forces, Munich and the results gained by those program. The model DEICH_P was enhanced by a special breach mechanism in order to account for the cohesive dam material used in test case 1.
