Description
Summary:Barber, F. G. 1978. Speculation concerning fish populations in the water of the Hudson Bay system. Fish. Mar. Servo Tech. Rep. 829: 11i + 6 p. After the withdrawal of the most recent glacier from Hudson Bay, distributions there, particularly of salinity, probably soon became similar to those now observed. If this is so, the high salinity of the water of Hudson Strait could have served during postglacial time as a barrier to movement of certain fish species from the western arctic into southern Hudson Bay. One such species is the Arctic cisco (Coregonus autumnalis), which might be usefully introduced there.
