Summary:My academic interests and talents are in physical geography, geographic information systems, environmental change, human/cultural geography, Local and Traditional Knowledge, knowledge integration and linkages, Arctic climate change, Indigenous harvesting activities, Arctic regions, resource management, and wildlife management. My experiences in university are in-depth and include social science research, environmental research, community research, community consensus building, community workshop co-ordination, academic writing, grant/funding proposal writing, editing, working extensively in groups, team building, financial planning and budgeting, planning and execution of field research, traveling in remote areas by snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle, and boat, harvesting practices, purchasing field research equipment, logistics, public speaking, and development of leadership skills. Career Goals Ultimately my desired career would include the following elements: First, I would be working with the public, building meaningful and positive relationships as well as creating understanding between the institution I represent and the public. Second, I would like my work to revolve around the environment and the community, spending as much time in the field and among community members as possible.
