Use of waterfowl by Eskimos on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta amounts to approximately 83,000 geese and brant and 38,000 ducks annually with the greatest take occurring during the spring hunting period. About 5,500 swans and 1,000 cranes are also taken throughout flightless adult birds have decreased in importance in recent years, but spring hunting of water-the area and 40,000 eggs are gathered for use as food.
