Description
Summary:Portugal, data from several altimeter missions have been regularly reprocessed using state-of-art geophysical corrections and have been used for oceanographic applications, the main focus being the Cape Verde Archipelago and the Iberia Peninsula regions. In this study, some of the latest results for the North-East (NE) Atlantic region comprising the upwelling systems that occur along the African and Iberian coasts, obtained from a continuous 10-year SLA data set of merged data from TOPEX/Poseidon (T/P), Jason-1 (J1), ERS-2 and Envisat (EN) missions, are shown. This data set was generated with the aim of analysing the spatial and temporal evolution of the ocean currents associated with the upwelling systems along the coasts, known as rich and diverse ecosystems. This regional study covers the NE Atlantic between latitudes 10ºN and 50ºN and longitudes 30ºW and 5ºW. 1.
