Description
Summary:Large public displays are being increasingly absorbed into everyday urban environments, but frequently suffer from lack of attention, also referred to as ‘display blindness’. In this paper, we concisely present design, implementation and longitudinal living-lab analysis of a network of interactive large public displays in downtown city of Oulu, in northern Finland. The installation aimed to dynamically integrate passive digital signage with various interactive services and content. Our evaluation reveals practical insights on the integration of different usage models, as well as on the overall reception of the concept by the general public. Author Keywords living-lab, large public displays, urban computing, ubiquitous computing, distributed interaction.
