Estimated changes in surface UV over the last 4 decades using ERA-40 data

Abstract. Global surface UV doses have been calculated for the period of 1958-2002 using daily input data from the ERA-40 re-analysis. The quality of input parameters has been validated with available ground based total ozone data and estimates of Cloud Modification Factor (CMF). Due to limited avai...

Description
Summary:Abstract. Global surface UV doses have been calculated for the period of 1958-2002 using daily input data from the ERA-40 re-analysis. The quality of input parameters has been validated with available ground based total ozone data and estimates of Cloud Modification Factor (CMF). Due to limited availability of validation data especially during 1960's and 1970's the analysis focused on the following sites in Europe: Davos, Norrköping, Jokioinen, Sodankylä, and Tromso. This paper shows examples of the study and summarizes the main results.
