Summary: | The Noodjimo Enendaming / Healing Thoughts is a culturally appropriate clinical treatment program developed to meet the mental health needs of First Nations children. It introduces concepts that are meant to increase the participant’s sense of belonging to family, extended family, community and Nation as Anishnaabe, beginning with an acceptance of self. The clinical intervention appears to have an impact on the participants ’ expression of behavioral patterns with differences according to gender, on the participants ’ general adaptive functioning and perceived self competence, and improvement in the sense of belonging to the family and community, two central factors to Anishnaabe people. |
