Description
Summary:The environmental forces such as wind, wave or earthquake are always cyclic and random which could exert civil engineering structures like high builds, bridges or offshore structure. The structure designer needs to know the behavior of environmental force for predicting the dynamic response of the structures. As the environmental forces are random the load spectrum is the convenient way to conducts dynamic analysis of the structures. It was found that moving ice acting on offshore structure in cold region area could also create cyclical force and exert structure vibrations. Compared to other environmental forces the ice force is not well understood. Recent year, our research team have obtained large mount of first-hand data on the offshore jacket platform in Bohai Bay by full scale test in situ, including the response of the structure, directly measured ice force, the failure process of the ice sheet. Based on the analysis of these data, Yue and Bi (2000) developed a deterministic ice force function. Yue etc. (2007) presents an ice force spectrum model for narrow conical offshore structures deployed in ice infested areas. The model is developed using
