Description
Summary:my supervisor in this PhD project. Elisabeth has been a steady support since becoming my supervisor in 2004, her support is greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank Marja Vehviläinen who was my first supervisor when I first started the PhD project in 2002; her great knowledge in gender research gave me good base for the continuation of the project. Professor Jim Barry and Dr. John Chandler, University of East London, are thanked for valuable comments which improved parts of this thesis. I also thank Professor Ewa Gunnarsson, the head of the Division of Gender, Technology and Organisation, for enabling me to work freely and focus on my thesis. The Department of Human Work Sciences is thanked for providing facilities. I would also like to express my gratitude to the municipality of Övertorneå for giving me the opportunity to study women lives in Tornedalen. I also send my deepest and warmest thanks to all the women who participated in this study; and shared their stories with me. Finally and most of all, I want to thank my wonderful family, Anders and Pauline, for always supporting me.
