Summary:Preamble. The Antarctic Treaty Consultative Parties at ATCM XXII held at Tromso received the report of the first Antarctic Protected Areas Workshop. After discussions and considering the need to continue the development of conservation in Antarctica, in the light of recent advances and new concepts, they decided to hold a Second Workshop on Protected Areas in conjunction with ATCM XXIII in Lima.
