Summary:Information on catch levels and on the age structure (catch-at-age) of the harp seal (Phoca groenlandica) hunt in the Northwest At lant ic is necessary for responsible management. This report summarizes harp seal catch and catch-at-age statistics from 1946– 94. Most harp seals are hunted in Labrador and the Northeast coast of Newfoundland ('the Front'); the Gulf of St. Lawrence ('the Gulf'); West Greenland (NAFO Divisions 1A–1F); and the Eastern Canadian Arctic (in the vicinity of Baffin Island). Catches and catch-at-age data are reported here for these areas.
