Description
Summary:Hydrogen peroxide, administered as a bath treatment, is reported to be used in Norway, the Faroe Islands, and Scotland as an alternative to dichlOIvos for the treatment of sea lice (Bruno 1992; Thomassen 1993). Treatments with 1.5 giL hydrogen peroxide for 20 minutes at water temperatures of 8 to 12°C have been reported to remove between 85 % and 100 % of the sea lice, including large proportions of the attached chalimus stages, without toxicity to Atlantic salmon. The purpose of this Aquaculture Update is to report on our laboratory investigations on the stability of commercial hydrogen peroxide in sea water, its effects on non-
